For
over 20 years, Jackeline Rago has stood firm in her commitment
of bringing Venezuelan culture and music at an educational level to the continental US
and abroad.
Currently, she is a faculty member at the Jazzschool
in Berkeley, CA, where she teaches several courses on Afro-Venezuelan
percussion, Venezuelan Cuatro and Afro-Venezuelan rhythms applied
to Jazz. She is also the musical director of EBI (Escuela Bilingue Internacional) in Berkeley CA, where she leads a bilingual music
program designed for pre-k and kindergarden children. Additionally, she is the musical director of “Contacto
Musical” within Adventures in Music (AIM), which is a
nationally and internationally recognized music education program,
offered by the San Francisco Symphony for the elementary school
children in San Francisco’s public schools.
Jackeline is available for workshops and lecture performances on Venezuelan
Folk-music for large and/or small audiences. As an educator,
she has worked extensively with Universities and Colleges throughout
the US to share the culture and sounds of her native Venezuela and other Latin American countries.
